Grant Thornton expands Catalonia team with new partners

Grant Thornton has expanded its Catalonia team with the appointment of two new partners, Jordi Bachs and Alexandre Casado.
The move is part of the firm’s strategy to boost financial advisory and tax practices in the region and bolster its management team at its Barcelona office in Spain.
Jordi Bachs joins as a partner in the Financial Advisory practice, bringing more than 18 years of experience in corporate finance.
His expertise lies in business and intangible asset valuation, debt restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), the firm said.
Bachs’ career began at PwC and Norgestión before he moved to Grant Thornton in 2013.
The Financial Advisory line in Catalonia caters to middle-market and international companies, family-owned businesses, and funds.
Alexandre Casado has been appointed as a partner in the Tax practice.
With a background in financial consulting at Caixa Terrassa and a boutique tax firm in Barcelona, Casado joined Grant Thornton in 2013.
He specialises in national and international tax consulting, tax planning, group restructuring, due diligence, and tax audits.
In the new role at Grant Thornton, Casado will guide Catalan companies through a challenging tax environment, including regional reforms, new sustainability obligations, digital tax control advancements, and the global minimum tax implementation.
Grant Thornton chairman Ramón Galcerán said: “The promotion of Jordi and Alexandre reflects Grant Thornton’s commitment to developing internal talent and professional excellence. We focus on professionals who understand the business, provide strategic vision, and support our clients in their evolution and growth.
“This boost in Barcelona reinforces our vision of building a strong, dynamic firm ready to lead new business challenges.”
The Barcelona office currently employs 200 staff across various service lines.
In April 2025, Grant Thornton Advisors expanded its global platform by integrating Grant Thornton UAE, Grant Thornton Luxembourg, and Grant Thornton (Cayman) into its network.
This follows an October agreement with Grant Thornton Ireland to align advisory and tax operations, further enhancing the firm’s multinational platform.
