He previously worked as a corporate controller for the company between 2017 and 2022, managing financial reporting and compliance. Mr. Cox was recruited from NOV Inc. (formerly National Oilwell Varco), where he worked as the western hemisphere controller from 2016 to 2017, supervising financial activities across multiple regions. This role came after serving as National Oilwell Varco’s U.S. tubular services controller between 2011 and 2016.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Cox garnered success as an assistant corporate controller at Orion Marine Group, where he played a crucial role in financial analysis and equipment usage planning. He was also a controller at Cameron International Corporation, a financial analyst at Stewart & Stevenson and an accountant at Avnet, dating back to 1994.
In 1988, Mr. Cox enlisted in the California Army National Guard, where he completed training at Fort Knox and Fort Sam Houston. Specializing as a medic, he became a member of the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Regiment. During his six years of service, Mr. Cox was assigned as a medic with the 2nd Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment and earned a National Defense Service Medal. He concluded his military career in 1994, receiving an Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting from California State University in Los Angeles in 1994. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his completion of the National Oilwell Executive Finance course through Rice Business, Jones Graduate School of Business. Additionally, Mr. Cox holds a certified public accountant designation from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
He has also become a well-written writer with the release of “AI Newmind: The Brain Chip Chronicles.” After the successful sale of LAACO Ltd., Mr. Cox took a sabbatical, during which he completed his science fiction book.
