Senior Accounting Manager – Property & Casualty Insurance

As we continue to expand our product offerings and strengthen our financial foundation, we are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to help elevate our accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial reporting.

The Role

The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee key accounting functions, manage a high‑performing team, and play a critical role in monthly close, statutory reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-moving insurance environment and enjoys solving complex technical and operational challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of statutory filings for P&C entities, including annual and quarterly statements, premium tax filings, and related regulatory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIC accounting practices and insurance regulatory standards.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses prepared by the accounting team.
  • Partner with FP&A, Actuarial, Claims, and Treasury to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial results.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and technical accounting support.
  • Strengthen internal controls, documentation standards, and accounting policies to support scale and complexity.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a growing team of accountants.
  • Participate in system upgrades, automation projects, and process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

  • CPA required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with P&C insurance experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of statutory accounting (SSAP), GAAP, SEC, and insurance regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed, hands‑on execution.
  • Proficiency with insurance accounting systems and general ledger platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, Sapiens, Guidewire) a plus.
